Matthew Davey is an experimental composer and visual artist based in both Leeds and Nottingham. Matthew is currently interested in the integration of visual and musical practices, using a cross-discipline approach in the representation of concept to blur artistic convention and the separation between both disciplines. He is also interested in the musical recontextualisation of every-day objects which serve as significant as markers to personal experiences, as seen within his yearlong trilogy consisting of Tranquil Agitation, Soothing and Attempted Soothing. Matthew is a Saxophonist and Trumpeter, often using an improvisational approach towards the generation of experimental textures and techniques, which are then developed into final compositional material.
